Key Facts about the system..
- Can be demonstrated to be vastly more
productive than pond and solar PBR grown algae.
- Uses radiant energy more efficiently
for photosynthesis than solar driven systems
- Uses about 80% less water and nearly 95% less land than pond and
solar PBR grown algae
- Uses fossil flue CO2 and NOx
gas emissions to produce many valuable products (animal & human food,
pharmaceuticals, polymers, fine chemicals, bio-fuels, etc)
- Uses sustainable power when available or can generate own power
from biomass combustion
- Uses NOx gases as nutrient source to replace costly nitrogen fertilisers
- As or more efficient than sugar driven fermenters for growing algae
- Operates 24hours a day year round as a reliable and scalable industrialised process to grow algae
producing biomass and oxygen gas
- Low de-watering and harvesting costs
- Totally enclosed system minimises pathogen and predator attacks
- Economic unit Capex & Opex costs at industrial scale sited
close to emission sources

Who says there isnt hype in the Algae world
biopetroleo.com ...have a look at the video
...but then again show me the real Life Cycle Analysis material that proves this version of Algae technology is economically sustainable.
ABEL needs to get its bioreactors built to the correct scale before we can knowingly stand on a platform and declare we have conquered the challenges of CO2 sequestration, algal growth and harvesting.
Product optimisation needed as soon as possible - anyone have any links to point me to??

More interest
...one of our long standing advocates has been back in touch lately to ask if we would like to be involved in an Ecological Trust he is setting up with support from one or two of the multinational foundations... We have been asked to assist in developing algal bioreactor technology.

Things are picking up..
looks like we might be moving forward. We have been asked to produce a business case for a global Blue Chip and if the economics stack for them then we may be onto a funding stream at last. we have also come across some interesting technologies that will work in harmony with ours thus improving the economics of the proposition. All in all I know we haven't posted for a while but things are definitely looking up...

Too early for VC
We were told last week that we were too early for PE funding... but then again we were introduced to another one who is very interested in what we are trying to do last Thursday. Meeting tomorrow with a government grant specialist who works on no win no fee basis.

People are building commercial demonstrators
..we have a lot of irons in the fire at the moment that will produce a Pilot Plant, whilst our technology is different we will create a project that will have a profile like this

Bashing the bankers
George Osbourne has pledged to make the banks lend more money to small businesses..does that mean we should get the application forms in to HSBC now then. I think not somehow, what they need to do is unshackle the banks stop bashing them every two minutes and let the economy get going again by reducing the red tape.
The thing I have found most surprising in the last couple of years is the vast number of Government Agencies in each and every region of the UK that are in place (still) to advise/tell business's how to raise money but none of them will give you any money in the form of grants...that appears to be still up to the private sector to fund emerging technologies.
Frustrating to say the least!!!

Welcome to the blogosphere
I have decided to create this blog as an opportunity to post my thoughts, ideas and frustrations at getting our technology moving, the projects we are working on and anything else I and my colleagues want to get out there and spread the word...
